BySol raises nearly €90,000 for 250 recently freed dissidents

March 27, Pozirk. The fundraiser for recently freed Belarusian dissidents has collected €89,276 of the planned €250,000 as of March 27, according to the BySol Solidarity Fund’s website.
On March 19, Alaksandar Łukašenka liberated 250 designated political prisoners following his talks with John Coale, US special envoy for Belarus. As many as 235 were allowed to stay in Belarus, while 15 were taken to Lithuania.
BySol seeks to raise €1,000 for each person to cover basic needs in the first few weeks after their release.
As of March 27, human rights defenders identified at least 908 political prisoners in Belarus, yet politically-motivated persecution, ongoing since the disputed 2020 presidential vote, has not stopped with new additions to the political prisoners’ list announced earlier this week.
