Viciebsk police trained to suppress protests

April 25, Pozirk. Police in Viciebsk held drills on April 23 and 24 to improve their ability to disperse protests and detain alleged organizers, the interior ministry reported.

The exercises were observed by Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakoŭ and Interior Troops Commander Mikałaj Karpiankoŭ. A video released from the drills shows officers practicing the detention of reporters.

Since 2020, Belarusian police have brutally suppressed demonstrations, helping Alaksandar Łukašenka maintain his grip on power.
