Emergency ministry issues alerts for heat, thunderstorms in western Belarus

June 30, Pozirk. Extreme heat in Belarus continues, as the Ministry for Emergency Situations issued a red-level alert for the Brest region on July 1.
Temperatures are expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius across Belarus, with 37C being forecast for the southwest of the country, it noted.
Another warning concerns thunderstorms and strong winds in western parts of the country.
Yesterday, thunderstorms disrupted power supply in 30 towns and damaged roofs of 52 residential buildings and 22 farms in the Homiel region. In the Mahiloŭ region, at least 11 cars were hit by fallen trees.
On June 29, Belarus recorded its highest-ever temperature in the 145-year history of meteorological observations at 40.4 C in Pinsk, Brest region.
