July 6, Pozirk. Piotra Sadoŭski, former diplomat and prominent Belarusian linguist, died at the age of 87 in a hospice, his daughter said on Facebook.
From 1992 to 1994, Sadoŭski served as the first ambassador of independent Belarus to Germany.
Born in the Viciebsk region in 1939, Sadoŭski was the son of a partisan who lost his life during the Second World War. He held a PhD in linguistics, taught German at universities and served as an MP from 1990 to 1996.
