Air temperatures in Belarus hit 90-year high

August 1, Pozirk. Air temperatures in Brest rose to 35.6 degrees Celsius on August 1, beating Belarus’ 90-year record of the date, according to Biełhidramiet.

The previous record of 35.2 C was recorded in Vasilevičy on August 1, 1936.

Biełhidramiet will post the day’s final temperatures from weather stations at 10 p. m. The weather agency issued three storm red alerts in the last 47 hours.

Temperatures are expected to remain above 30C in the next three days.

Belarus’ all-time temperature record – 40.4C – was reported in Pinsk on June 29.
