BySol raises 40 percent of its goal for school supplies for political prisoners’ children
August 4, Pozirk. BySol has raised €4,001 in four days after appealing for €10,000 for the purchase of school supplies for political prisoners’ children ahead of the new school year.
The solidarity foundation launched its annual fundraiser on July 31 this year.
BySol said that it receives around 200 requests each year from families in which one or both parents are in prison or have been convicted on political grounds. In most cases, these families are in a vulnerable situation, and preparing children for school adds to their financial burden.
BySol offers them €100 aid packages to cover essential expenses, such as the costs of school supplies and uniforms. Applications for assistance may be submitted until August 21, both by Belarus-based families and those residing abroad.
A similar fundraiser held last year collected nearly €20,000 in donations, helping 253 children.
