Cichanoŭskaja: Moldova’s European choice gives hope to Belarusians

August 27, Pozirk. The courage of the Moldovans who made a European choice gives hope to Belarusians, Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has said in her congratulatory message to Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Independence Day.
“Moldova has shown that even under relentless pressure, a nation can defend its democracy,” the politician noted on X.
Pro-European Sandu was elected Moldova’s president in late 2020 and has met Cichanoŭskaja on several occasions since then.
Last month, Moldova joined the European Union’s sanctions on Belarus-based AAT Izovac (OOO Izovac), which has supplied $200 million worth of goods to Russian defense contractors since the start of Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine in February 2022.
