Łukašenka appoints general to his administration
September 28, Pozirk. Alaksandar Łukašenka has appointed General Pavieł Muraviejka as deputy head of his administration, the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel reported.
Muraviejka, 55, served as chief of the General Staff and first defense minister prior to the appointment.
The Belarusian ruler promoted Deputy Defense Minister Uładzimir Biełyj, 49, to chief of the General Staff.
Łukašenka said he appointed Muraviejka to “have several alternative points of view on the situation in . . . security units.”
“I want our Armed Forces to be ready for the most serious clashes, events in order to avoid them,” Pul Pervogo quoted him as saying.
Speaking about General Biełyj, the Belarusian leader said, “He will be under serious scrutiny and maybe under some pressure from the president, not only through the State Secretariat [of the Security Council], but also [through] the Presidential Administration. This is life. No offense, you know my approaches. I must know everything that happens in the Armed Forces.”
