In 2021, exports of the Belarusian military-industrial complex increased by 28%
February 14, BPN. In 2021, the Military Industrial Committee supplied products to 65 countries, while exports increased by over a quarter, Chair of the State Military Industrial Committee Dzmitry Pantus said on STV TV’s The Week show.
“Despite all the difficulties and troubles of 2021 related to sanctions pressure and anti-Covid measures, we managed to do a good job, increasing our exports by some 28 percent compared to 2020 and supplying our products to 65 countries. This is 10% more than in 2020,” said Pantus.
According to the head of the military-industrial complex, the industry has a lot of developments: on average, “200-210 different R&D projects to create certain types of weapons” are implemented annually.
“In 2022, we aim to complete to a greater extent the work that is already underway, because I must note that the creation of this or that type of weapons, military and special equipment is the work of not one month or one year. Some development activities take from two to four years, therefore this process is quite lengthy,” Pantus said.
He identified the T-72B tank modernization, development of the Volat V2 APC and the Hunter quadcopter, and improvement of the Sapphire grenade launcher system as key projects.
