Belarus creates registry of virtual wallet addresses for cryptocurrencies “used in illegal activities”
February 14, BPN. On February 14, Aliaksandr Lukašenka signed Decree № 48 “On the register of addresses (identifiers) of virtual wallets and features of the cryptocurrency circulation,” reports his press service.
The press release emphasizes that Belarus “consistently develops the legal field of regulating activities related to digital assets, and unlike many other states allows the free circulation of digital currencies.” At the same time, “this requires constant monitoring of the situation and, if necessary, supplementing and clarifying regulatory norms,” in order to exclude cases of shadow financing of prohibited activities.
The document provides for the formation by the Hi-Tech Park (HTP) of a register containing addresses of virtual wallets used in “illegal activities,” establishing the procedure for its operation.
This provision “is designed to protect participants in the digital asset market from loss of property and prevent unintentional involvement in prohibited activities.”
