The Interior Ministry places opera singer Marharyta Liaŭčuk and blogger Andrej Pavuk on the wanted list
February 15, BPN. Opera singer Marharyta Liaŭčuk and blogger Andrej Pavuk, who created the satirical duet Krasnaya Zelen, are on the wanted list, according to the website of the Belarusian Interior Ministry.
It is noted that Liaŭčuk and Pavuk “fled from the investigation for committing a crime.”
Liaŭčuk is charged with committing a crime under Article 370 of the Criminal Code (abuse of state symbols), which provides for a penalty of up to 3 years in prison.
Pavuk is charged under Article 370 of the Criminal Code, as well as under Article 2031, part 3 (illegal actions with respect to information about private life and personal data; up to 5 years in prison) and Article 369 (insulting a representative of the authorities; up to 2 years in prison) of the Criminal Code.
Marharyta Liaŭčuk was a soloist of the National Opera of Belarus in 2016-2020, performing on the stages of leading European opera theatres. During the 2020 presidential elections, she supported Sviatlana Cichanoŭskaja and participated in her election campaign. She is responsible for the preservation of culture and national heritage in the National Anti-Crisis Management (NAU), created by former official and diplomat Paviel Latuška. She has been abroad since mid-autumn 2020.
Andrej Pavuk is a civil activist, blogger, and musician. He was repeatedly prosecuted for administrative offenses. Pavuk is the creator of the YouTube channel Rudabielskaja Pakazucha and supports the YouTube channel Country for Life, created by video blogger Siarhiej Cichanoŭski (convicted to 18 years in prison). Currently, Pavuk is also based outside of Belarus.
