Another criminal case opened against Cichanoŭskaja for calling to harm the national security of Belarus
March 4, BPN. The Prosecutor General’s Office has opened a criminal case under Article 361, part 3 of the Criminal Code (calls for sanctions and other actions aimed at harming national security) against Belarusian democratic leader Sviatlana Cichanoŭskaja.
The press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office reports that “the suspect, acting with other unidentified persons, no later than March 2, 2022, recorded and posted a video on YouTube video hosting website and Telegram messenger containing public calls for acts of terrorism and sabotage, treason, committing other actions aimed at harming the national security of Belarus.”
Previously, a criminal case was opened against Cichanoŭskaja under Article 361, part 3 of the Criminal Code for calls to overthrow or change the constitutional order of Belarus or to commit crimes against the state.
Other criminal cases have been opened against her under Article 3611, part 1 (creation of an extremist formation and its leadership), Article 357, part 1 (conspiracy to seize power unconstitutionally), Article 13, part 1 and Article 293, part 2 (preparation for mass riots), Article 13, part 1 and Article 292, part 1 (preparation for the seizure of buildings and facilities), Article 14, part 1 and Article 289, part 3 (attempted act of terrorism) of the Criminal Code.
The KGB included Cichanoŭskaja in the list of persons involved in terrorist activities.
