Japan imposes sanctions against Belarusian authorities
March 8, BPN. The Japanese government has imposed sanctions against Belarusian authorities, as it considers them complicit in the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
The sanctions list includes Aliaksandr Lukašenka, his sons Viktar and Dzmitry (President of the National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Central Council of the President’s Sport Club respectively), Natallia Kačanava ( Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly), Natallia Ejsmant (Lukašenka’s press secretary), Ivan Kubrakoŭ (Interior Minister), Dzmitry Hora (Chairman of the Investigative Committee), Andrej Šved (Prosecutor General), Aleh Hajdukievič (Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives).
Aliaksiej Aleksin and Mikalaj Vierabej (co-owners of LLC Bremino Group), Aliaksandr Šatroŭ (co-founder of Synesis Group), and Aliaksandr Zajcaŭ (owner of Sohra Group) also appeared on the sanctions list.
Sanctions were imposed against Beltechexport, Synesis Group, AGAT Electromechanical Plant, 140 Repair Plant, Belšyna, Dana Holdings/Dana Astra, Sohra Group, Bremino Group, JSC NNK, Hrodna Azot, Integral, as well as against the Ministry of Defense and all army units, intelligence organizations, and police.
Exports of goods that can be used for military purposes in Belarus are banned.
As of March 15, Japanese exporters are prohibited from receiving payments from Integral, which produces semiconductors for use in the military-industrial complex.
“We cannot overlook the clear involvement of Belarus [in the war against Ukraine],” Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said at a news conference Tuesday, quoted by The Japan Times.
