March 9, BPN. A criminal case has been opened against a high school student from Homiel’ region for taking pictures of Russian military equipment and sharing them with a Telegram channel, Viasna Human Rights Center reports.
In late February and early March, the teenager photographed the movement of Russian military equipment and sent the pictures to a Telegram channel recognized as “extremist” by the Belarusian authorities.
The criminal case was initiated under Article 3614, part 1 (promotion of extremist activities) of the Criminal Code. Sanctions for this offence include restriction of freedom for up to four years or imprisonment from two to six years.
