Belarusian Ministry of Energy reports that the line Mazyr – Chernobyl NPP is powered up
March 10, BPN. “As instructed by the head of state,” operations were carried out “to supply electricity to the high-voltage power line connecting the 330 kV Mazyr substation and the electric grid facilities of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant,” the Ministry of Energy reported.
“Completed activities make it possible to supply electricity to the Chernobyl NPP facilities,” the press release noted.
The announcement says only that the power supply is ensured without explicitly mentioning the restoration of power supply to the Chernobyl NPP.
Previously, the national power company Ukrenergo stated that it did not need assistance from Belarus in repairing high-voltage lines that supplied power to the Chernobyl NPP and were damaged by Russian troops.
“We need a cease-fire and a pass for our repair crews, who have been waiting since yesterday to get a permit to start the repairs,” the Ukrenergo stressed. “We have everything ready to immediately repair the lines and restore power to the Chernobyl NPP, which has been without power supply for more than a day. Just stop the shelling and let our repair crews in.”
“All reports of Russian and Belarusian media about the power supply to the Chernobyl NPP from Belarus represent a provocation aimed at aggravating the situation,” said Ukrenergo.
At a meeting with the security services on March 10, Aliaksandr Lukašenka instructed Belarusian experts to ensure the power supply of the Chernobyl NPP. He said that president Vladimir Putin informed him yesterday evening of the situation in the NPP area.
