Lukašenka believes it is necessary to elaborate cooperation with China amid sanctions imposed on Belarus

March 14, BPN. Belarus and China need to find “additional ways of cooperation,” ensuring that Beijing does not bear the costs of Western sanctions imposed on Minsk and Moscow, said Aliaksandr Lukašenka on March 14 at a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Xie Xiaoyong.

“In view of the events taking place in our region, we should briefly discuss this situation and outline additional ways of cooperation with the People’s Republic of China,” Lukašenka was quoted as saying by his press service. “However, I would like to emphasize: I do not insist that China should bear any responsibility and lose anything due to the sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus.”

“In this situation, we need to find and create a relationship and cooperation model that meets the interests of the two countries. This is the goal of our country’s leadership. It has always been the same. But now some things need to be elaborated. Today I would like to talk to you about this, and I would like to ask you to convey this to the leadership of the PRC, so that they are better informed about our position and our actions in this difficult time in the Central European region,” Lukašenka said.

According to Lukašenka, development of relations with China is “the top priority in the foreign policy and economy of Belarus.”
