Mishustin promises Haloŭčanka to close deficit of critical imports if needed

March 19, BPN. “All critical imports of food products, including durum wheat, buckwheat, and vegetable oil, will be supplied to Belarus within agreed limits, if necessary,” the press office of the Belarusian government said, referring to an agreement reached during a phone conversation between Prime Ministers Raman Haloŭčanka of Belarus and Mikhail Mishustin of Russia on March 18.

“The Russian counterpart informed the Belarusian prime minister about Russian decisions not to apply to the Republic of Belarus restrictions on the export of goods, raw materials, technological equipment, medicines, and medical devices as part of the adopted countersanctions.”

The parties “discussed in detail arrangements by the Eurasian Economic Commission Council to mitigate the sanctions and saturate the domestic market, creating favorable conditions for the supply of materials and raw materials to the EAEU.”

Western countries, along with democratic states in other parts of the world, have imposed and continue imposing large-scale political and economic sanctions against Russia as an aggressor and Belarus as its accomplice in the war against Ukraine.
