UEFA bans Belarus’ state TV from broadcasting Nations League

June 14, BPN. The Union of the European Football Associations (UEFA) has removed Belarusian state TV from its list of UEFA Nations League official broadcasters, the UEFA press office reported.

The games of the Belarusian soccer team, previously aired by Belarus 5, a part of the state-run Belarusian Television and Radio Company, can no longer be seen on TV in Belarus.

Belarusians have already missed games against Kazakhstan on June 10 and against Azerbaijan on June 13. Belarus 5 has also stopped showing other games in the Nations League.

Belarusian state TV has not yet commented on the termination of broadcasts.

The termination of broadcasting rights may be linked to the fact that Switzerland has joined the international sanctions against Belarus, which also affect the state TV. The UEFA office, which is a party to the broadcasting contract, is located in Nyon, Switzerland.
