Major pro-government association elects new head
June 19, BPN. A Belaya Rus (Biełaja Ruś) congress elected the rector of the Polack State University, senator Aleh Ramanaū, as the public association’s chairman in Minsk on June 18.
Television channel STV showed Ramanaū saying that the association would be ready to transform into a political party “if the political leadership wills so and, most importantly, if Belarusian citizens will so”.
He recalled that Alaksandr Łukašenka recently supported party-building in Belarus.
Ramanaū replaced MP Hienadź Davydźka, who occupied this office since 2018.
On April 1, Belaya Rus signed a cooperation agreement with Russia’s ruling United Russia party.
