Reporter hints at prison pressure in letters
June 23, BPN. In letters to his wife, Radio Liberty journalist Aleh Hruździłovič hints that he is pressured by the prison administration.
Marjana Hruździłovič told the radio on June 22 that he appeared to have spent 10 days in a punishment cell from June 1 to June 10. There were no letters from him in that period, and she receives no letters now.
The woman supposes that her husband may have been placed in a punishment or solitary confinement cell again.
In his letters, the reporter was using the wording “technical reasons,” “sterile silence”, etc.
On March 3, Hruzdziłovič was sentenced to 18 months in prison in connection with a 2020 protest rally that he covered.
At least 30 Belarusian media workers are behind bars.
