Ukraine says Russian military instructors involved in Belarus’ drills

June 23, BPN. Russian military instructors are involved in Belarusian special operations forces’ training, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (ZSU) reported on June 23.

“The main focus is on sabotage and reconnaissance activities,” the report reads. The ZSU adds that mobilization drills in the Homiel region, involving reservists, continue.

The Belarusian Defense Ministry said the drills involving military enlistment offices began on June 22. It announced plans to involve special operations forces in the scheduled exercises to create an environment resembling reality.

Belarus allowed Russian troops and weapons to move through the country’s territory, use its airspace, refuel and store military equipment and attack Ukraine from its territory on February 24.

Tension on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border has eased after Ukraine repelled the attack on its northern areas. However, the Belarusian Armed Forces have conducted regular exercises, and Kyiv says that Belarus may be preparing for an offensive. Minsk denies having aggressive plans.
