June 24, BPN. An aide to Belarus’ opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has intervened to prevent the deportation of a Belarusian human rights activist from Ukraine, the former presidential candidate’s Telegram channel reported.
Valeryj Kavaleŭski, head of the Cichanoŭskaja’s cabinet and her camp’s mission in Kyiv, phoned the Ukrainian interior ministry and the chair of the Verkhovna Rada human rights committee on June 24 after police in Kyiv had detained Anisija Kazliuk for allegedly illegal stay in Kyiv. Police officers reportedly seized the activist’s passport.
She has been released after the intervention.
