Belarusian medic expects COVID-19 levels to rise

June 27, BPN. А Belarusian infectious disease specialist expects another COVID-19 wave in late summer and early fall.

Juryj Horbič told a press conference in Minsk on June 27 that the coronavirus “hasn’t gone anywhere – there are patients who are sick, who are on oxygen in hospitals and in intensive care units.”

Horbič, who heads the infectious diseases department at the Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, called the current situation relatively quiet.

However, the experience of the United States, where there is a rise in morbidity, makes us expect “another wave of the disease in late August or September,” he added.

Belarusian medics say about 68% (more than 6.3 million people) completed the vaccination course by June 22, while about 69% (more than 6.4 million people) received their first jab.
