August 20, BPN. Belarusian publisher Andrej Januškievič has said the authorities’ intervention prevented him from publishing nine books this summer.
Among them are George Orwell’s “Animal Farm,” F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” and Ernest Hemingway’s “The Sun Also Rises.”
Earlier this year, the authorities gave Januškievič Publishers three days to vacate its premises in Minsk and disrupted the launch of the company’s bookstore. Januškievič spent 28 days in jail, and bookstore clerk Anastasija Karnackaja 23 days.
