Belarusian energy ministry: nuclear power unit’s preventive maintenance completed

August 22, BPN. The Belarusian energy ministry has said that scheduled preventive maintenance has been completed at the Astraviec Nuclear Power Plant’s first power unit.

“The reactor plant’s main equipment, the turbine generator and the main coolant pumps have been repaired,” it said on its website on August 22.

The reactor was refueled for the first time, it added: “In line with regulations, 48 out of 163 fuel assemblies with nuclear fuel were replaced.” Thousands of systems and pieces of equipment were tested, it said.

The ministry noted that NPPs perform scheduled preventive maintenance annually to secure the equipment’s stable operating condition.
