Independent newspaper’s website blocked

September 7, BPN. Belarus has blocked access to the website of the Babrujsk-based independent weekly Vecherniy Bobruisk with a circulation of 4,200 copies for Belarusian and foreign users.

The editorial staff told BPN that they are investigating the reasons, while the newspaper keeps working as usual with a new issue out on September 7.

Founded by Valancin Sysoj back in 2000 and edited by Natalla Sysoj, Vecherniy Bobruisk seeks to provide unbiased and balanced coverage.

The blocking comes amid the government’s campaign to silence critical voices in the country.
