Rise in Belarus fuel prices 11 times higher than average in Russia-led economic union

Since the start of 2022, consumer prices for various types of fuel rose by 11.1 percent in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), with Belarus (+14.8 percent) ranking second only after Kazakhstan (15.4 percent), the Eurasian Economic Commission’s (EEC) statistical department reported.

Gasoline prices rose by 1.6 percent on average in the EAEU with Belarus being far ahead of other EAEU countries with 17.6 percent. Kyrgyzstan ranked second with 2.7 percent, followed by Russia (0.8 percent) and Armenia (0.2 percent), while gasoline prices in Kazakhstan fell by 0.4 percent.

Belarus ranked third in diesel fuel price growth with 17.1 percent after Armenia (+29.1 percent) and Kyrgyzstan (+31.3 percent). On average, diesel fuel prices in the EAEU climbed by 4.4 percent since the start of 2022.

Earlier, the EEC said that Belarus posted the sharpest rise in agricultural and industrial product prices in the EAEU in 2022.
