Belarusian foreign minister discusses cooperation with government members during India visit

November 10, BPN. Belarusian Foreign Minister Uładzimir Makiej and Indian Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya discussed international food security and Belarus’ role in it as a leading potash producer.

During Makiej’s visit to India on November 9-10, they also discussed “substantive approaches to cooperation in the field of petrochemistry,” the Belarusian foreign ministry’s press office said.

It went on to say that Makiej and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar discussed “specific steps to expand bilateral trade and economic cooperation,” as well as the “current situation in Ukraine, noting that it should be settled peacefully as soon as possible.”

Makiej also met with Indian Trade Minister Piyush Goyal. “A sharp focus on creating favorable conditions to increase mutual trade and implement joint projects in such areas as mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and infrastructure development was confirmed,” the press office said.

“The need to remove trade barriers and restrictions between the two countries was noted,” it added.
