MEPs call for measures beyond sanctions on Łukašenka regime

November 24, BPN. The European Parliament has passed a resolution “on the continuing repression of the democratic opposition and civil society in Belarus.”

MEPs called on the European Council and the EU’s top diplomat “to explore further measures, beyond sanctions, and to develop a coherent and comprehensive long-term approach towards Belarus, closely coordinated with like-minded countries and international organizations.”

They reiterated their solidarity with the Belarusian people and the democratic opposition, condemning reprisals and the authorities’ involvement in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. They called on the authorities to stop the crackdown on the people.
