EU says Belarusian regime responsible for Kaleśnikava’s health
December 1, BPN. It is the Belarusian regime that is responsible for Maryja Kaleśnikava’s health, EU spokesman Peter Stano told reporters on December 1.
“We are watching very closely the treatment of political prisoners in Belarus and we are following very closely the individual cases, such as the case of Maryja Kaleśnikava,” he said. He described reports of her health as “very worrying.” “It is extremely important that she is provided the urgent medical attention and care that her situation requires,” he added.
Stano called on the Belarusian authorities to immediately release Kaleśnikava and other political prisoners.
On November 29, 2022 former presidential hopeful Viktar Babaryka’s campaign said Kaleśnikava was at an intensive care unit at Homiel’s emergency hospital. An ambulance crew brought her to the hospital one day earlier.
The report came a week after the administration of Homiel’s Colony No 4 placed Babaryka’s campaign manager Kaleśnikava in a punitive cell.
