December 5, BPN. The monetary value of imports of goods in Belarus has been recovering, from a 15.4-percent decrease in July to only one-percent drop in October, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) said in its recent weekly macroeconomic report.
Import recovery may be driven by the consumer segment, it noted.
Belarus’ imports of investment goods plunged by almost 29 percent from January to September, the EDB analysts said.
Foreign trade in goods fell by 3.3 percent in October year on year, while exports declined by 5.5 percent and imports by 1 percent, the report noted, adding that the rubel’s exchange rate remains favorable for Belarusian exporters.
