Belarusain volunteer fighters, cyberpartisans unite
December 6, BPN. The Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment and Cyberpartisans have announced a merger to carry out joint work, Cyberpartisans’ spokesperson Julijana Šamietaviec has told BPN.
The hacktivist group and Ukraine’s Belarusian regiment appear to have been cooperating for months. “Together we were collecting intelligence, deciphering information and hacking into strategic facilities. We’ve naturally grown to the point where we need to unite,” Šamietaviec said.
On December 6, the regiment’s deputy commander Vadzim Kabančuk told a press conference in Kyiv that the merger was “part of the Belarusian people’s liberation movement.” “We do this to improve our joint actions’ coordination and efficiency,” he added.
The Kastuś Kalinoŭski Regiment was formed of Belarusian volunteers in Ukraine in March 2022, initially as a battalion. Cyberpartisans is a group of anonymous hackers known for targeting the Belarusian regime’s websites and accessing classified information.
