Universities to learn about applicants’ loyalty from school references
December 6, BPN. Education official Siarhiej Kaśpiarovič has said that from 2023, applicants will have to provide universities with reference letters from schools.
“Reference letters will objectively reflect not so much school graduates’ grades as their business qualities, activism, participation in public patriotic rallies, and even hobbies,” he told a press conference in Minsk.
Schools in the Soviet Union used reference letters to advance students involved in activities of pro-government youth organizations but were scrapped after its collapse.
