Ukraine’s military intelligence chief says offensive from Belarus unrealistic

December 7, BPN. Ukraine’s military intelligence chief has said weapons accumulated in Belarus are not suitable for an offensive.

“There will be no attack on Ukraine from Belarus now. They absolutely do not want that,” Kyrylo Budanov told a Ukrainian television network on December 6.

“Everything that happens in our media space on the topic of Belarus is an echo of Russia’s special information operation,” he added.

The main goal of the operation is to sow panic in Ukrainian society, drawing troops and resources away from the actual fighting on the front lines, Budanov said. “That’s the only goal they are trying to achieve.”

On December 6, the Armed Forces of Belarus began exercises reportedly focused on combat and mobilization readiness. This came amid the military’s campaign to update the files of draft-age Belarusians.
