Kaleśnikava’s hospitalization resulted from ill-treatment – campaign

December 7, BPN. Viktar Babaryka’s campaign says Maryja Kaleśnikava’s recent hospitalization was a result of ill-treatment in prison.

“The emergency hospitalization with a perforated ulcer and peritonitis (inflammation of the peritoneum) was a result of disproportionately cruel detention in a punitive cell,” it said in a press release, citing her father Alaksandr Kaleśnikaŭ.

It said that prior to her transfer to a hospital, Kaleśnikava hardly slept and often fainted. Her health further deteriorated on November 28, when “problems with blood pressure, nausea and fainting were exacerbated by excruciating stomach pain,” it added.

Law enforcers placed former presidential hopeful Viktar Babaryka’s campaign manager Maryja Kaleśnikava in Homiel’s emergency hospital last week. She was operated on on November 28. This past weekend, they transferred her back to the penal colony, where she had a 10-minute meeting with her father.
