Union State of Belarus and Russia may get flag, anthem in 2023 – official

December 9, BPN. The Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus will consider proposals on its flag and anthem in 2023, Dmitry Mezentsev, state secretary of the Union State told Russia-24 TV channel.

Mezentsev also announced a meeting of the Union State’s Council of Ministers to report on the implementation of 28 union programs, covering economy, industry, finances, and energy among other items.

In 1999, Russian President Boris Yeltsin and Belarusian President Alaksandr Łukašenka signed a treaty to establish the Union State. It entered into force in January 2000 after ratification by the parliaments of the two countries. The deal is of unlimited duration.
