Police official suggests legalizing military training for Belarusians

December 12, BPN. The interior ministry suggests legalizing extensive military training for Belarusians, including tactical and shooting skills, Mikałaj Karpiankoŭ, deputy interior minister and commander of the internal troops, said in an interview broadcast by ONT on Sunday evening.

Officials are drafting legislation to guarantee those who volunteer to join special paramilitary units appropriate social benefits, he said.

The interior ministry is forming a paramilitary unit of former special operation troops in response to the opposition’s Pieramoha Plan and the Belarusian Kastuś Kalinoŭski volunteer regiment fighting Russia in Ukraine, he added.
