Poll: third of Belarusians support union with Russia
December 13, BPN. Support for a union with Russia rose five percentage points to 38 percent in Belarus in 2022, says a recent survey by Filip Bikanaŭ’s team of independent Belarusian sociologists, conducted with support from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
The team interviewed 1.279 urban residents over 18 online from August 12 to September 6.
Opposition to a union fell from 43 percent in 2021 to 36 percent in 2022.
The pollster stressed that Belarusians usually interpret a union as cooperation rather than a merger of key state institutions.
