Doctor expects new COVID-19 variants in Belarus
December 15, BPN. Infectious disease expert Juryj Horbič expects two new COVID-19 variants to spread through Belarus.
One is prevalent in Europe, and another one in China, he told a press conference in Minsk on December 15. “Honestly, it is difficult to tell which one will be dominant in our country,” he said. “But it is clear that the share of SARS-CoV will increase when they spread.”
The health ministry does not publish up-to-date information on COVID-19 incidence. On July 5, it reported that 994,037 infections and 7,118 deaths had been recorded since the pandemic began.
