Łatuška urged governments of democratic countries and foreign diplomats to facilitate criminal proceedings under international universal jurisdiction and use the UN Convention Against Torture to bring Belarusian officials and security officers to justice for human rights abuses and torture.
Alaksandr Łukašenka’s regime feels its impunity while the violence in Belarus does not abate, the politician said. Crimes against Belarusians committed by the regime have no statute of limitations, he stressed.
The BYPOL association of former security forces continues to collect evidence of these crimes, added Alaksandar Azaraŭ who is currently in charge of the restoration of law and order at the opposition’s cabinet.
