Belarusian banks’ aggregate regulatory capital up 25 percent in 2022

December 26, BPN. The Belarusian banks’ aggregate regulatory capital amounted to 17.471 billion rubels (about $7.2 billion) on December 1.

The National Bank of Belarus recorded an increase of 3.547 billion rubels ($1.5 billion) since the start of 2022.

The aggregate capital increased by 1.5 percent month on month.

Total regulatory capital is one of the most important indicators of banks’ reliability, as it shows their ability to absorb potential financial losses at their own expense without causing any losses to clients.

Regulatory capital includes authorized capital, other funds, additional paid-in capital, retained earnings and other components determined by the central bank.

Belarus has 23 banks with foreign-owned shares in 14 banks exceeding 50 percent of their authorized capital.
