December 26, BPN. Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has appointed a prominent feminist activist to her cabinet as social security representative.
Volha Harbunova, who had set up a safe house for victims of domestic abuse, will organize “systematic assistance to political prisoners and their loved ones,” the cabinet said on Telegram.
On May 6, a district court in Minsk sentenced Harbunova to three years of restricted freedom, a type of home confinement, for taking part in post-election protests.
Harbunova left Belarus in late August.
