Official: All seized drugs trafficked into Belarus through Russia
December 27, BPN. All major drug busts in Belarus this year involved illicit drugs smuggled from Russia, a senior anti-trafficking police official said at a news conference in Minsk on December 27.
Police blocked 26 drug trafficking channels in the first 11 months of the year. All those channels were controlled by Russians, said Siarhiej Haradziecki, deputy chief of the Main Directorate for Drug Control and Fight Against Human Trafficking.
Police registered more than 4,000 drug-related crimes and identified more than 2,200 individuals involved in illicit drug trafficking.
Deaths caused by drug overdose fell to 70 in the first 11 months from 122 in 2021, he said.
