Border guards say they found dead woman near Polish border
December 28, BPN. Belarusian border guards have found the body of a Syrian woman near the Polish border fence, the State Border Committee’s press office said.
The father of the deceased, also from Syria, was nearby, according to the press office. The man and his daughter allegedly spent three days in Poland before being detained by men in uniform.
The man requested medical assistance for his daughter but Polish border guards took their possessions, drove them to the border and pushed back to Belarus despite the woman’s critical condition, the press office said.
An investigative team is currently working on the scene, it added.
Border authorities say it was the seventh migrant death at the Belarusian-Polish border in 2022. Reports from the Belarusian State Border Committee could not be independently verified.
Lithuania and Poland accused Belarusian border guards of herding migrants across the border. They charged Minsk with engineering the migration crisis that they see as a hybrid attack on the European Union.
