Trial of journalist and Polish community activist Poczobut to begin on January 9
December 28, BPN. Jailed reporter Andrzej Poczobut (Andrej Pačobut) will go on trial at the Hrodna Regional Court on January 9, the Belarusian Association of Journalists said.
The trial, initially scheduled for November 28, had been postponed.
The journalist and activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus was arrested in Hrodna on March 25, 2021. He is charged with inciting hatred and calling for sanctions on Belarus.
Last autumn, Poczobut refused to petition Alaksandr Łukašenka for pardon. In October the Committee for State Security (KGB) put him on the list of “persons involved in terrorist activities.”
There are five defendants in the case. Poczobut is the only defendant to remain in custody.
