Opposition cabinet’s deputy chairman visits USA, to discuss aid to civil society

January 3, BPN. A deputy chairman of the opposition’s cabinet, Valer Kavaleŭski, is on a working visit to Washington, D.C., the cabinet has said on Telegram. Meetings are scheduled at the Pentagon, the Department of State, the National Security Council and the foreign affairs committees of both houses of Congress.

The visit would focus on “US support of Belarusians’ efforts to defend their independence and sovereignty, measures to respond to the Łukašenka regime’s involvement in Russian aggression against Ukraine, greater US assistance for Belarusian civil society, including those intimidated and jailed for political reasons, and intensified Congressional involvement in the Belarusian issue,” it said.
