Opposition cabinet to promote Belarusian language
January 4, BPN. The opposition cabinet will promote the daily use of Belarusian and support related projects this year, cabinet member Alina Koŭšyk has said.
“A detailed plan is still being drafted, but I can already say that we will make it easier for adults and children to learn the Belarusian language,” she said. “We will promote setting up a network of Belarusian schools. We will encourage Belarusian media, including bloggers and celebrities, to speak Belarusian more often to promote it.”
Many projects already promote the Belarusian language, culture and history, but they are not widely known, Koŭšyk said. “We will try to support them and accumulate information about them on one website in an attractive way,” she added.
The cabinet will also back Belarusian book publishing, the politician said.
The opposition had declared 2023 “Year of Belarusian Language and National Revival.”
