Ministry says no travel ban for people with outdated military profiles
January 13, BPN. Draft-age Belarusians who have not updated their profiles at military enlistment offices will not be restricted from leaving the country, the Ministry of Defense has said.
It was commenting on remarks by Aleh Kanavałaŭ, the head of the Brest region’s military enlistment office, who publicly stated that these people would not be allowed to travel abroad.
In a video address on January 13, Kanavałaŭ offered potential conscripts to submit their details or face travel restrictions. The Ministry of Defense called this an “unreliable comment.”
The Belarusian military has completed updating files of draft-age citizens, the defense ministry said on January 10. The campaign was carried in line with Alaksandr Łukašenka’s decision since October 2022.
