Real unemployment up to 3.6 percent in Q4 2022 – Belstat
January 27, BPN. The real unemployment rate rose to 3.6 percent of Belarus’ able-bodied population in the fourth quarter of 2022, the National Statistical Committee’s (Belstat) regular household sample survey showed.
It climbed by 0.2 percent from the third quarter 2022 calculated by the methodology of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
Belstat recorded over 4 percent of men and 2.8 percent of women as unemployed, with unemployment of 3.6 percent in urban areas and 3 percent in rural areas.
In all, 83.6 percent of the workforce was employed in the fourth quarter, with a total of 4,189,600 persons employed in December 2022. That was a decrease fromt 4,192,900 a month earlier, Belstat said. The country’s workforce shrunk by 0.08 percent in December, it noted.
