Requiem mass for Belarusian volunteer fighter held in Warsaw
February 12, BPN. St Alexander’s Church in Warsaw held a requiem mass for Belarusian volunteer fighter Eduard Łobaŭ, who had died in Ukraine, on February 11.
“He went to the front and died in the war for us. For the liberation of thousands of political prisoners in Belarus. He fought to free them from captivity in the lawless regime. He died to liberate Belarus from Russian occupation,” exiled Belarusian priest Viačasłaŭ Barok said.
So many came to pay their last respects that the church could not accommodate all the mourners.
Former political prisoner Eduard Łobaŭ, who served in Ukraine’s 72nd Mechanized Brigade, died in battle on January 26, aged 34.
Almost 20 Belarusian volunteer fighters have lost their lives since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
